Singer, songwriter, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey they wanted to continue operating on the music market – something began to be created, material was created, there were concerts, but it was only in May 1984 that the band, known today in the world as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – at the same moment her debut album saw the light of day, From Her to Eternity.
The band was not idle, recording and performing, experimenting with style, its line-up also changed, but it was constantly, slowly, growing, gaining new crowds of fans and interest, and then the recognition of critics. The album was very important in all this Your Funeral, My Trial, that is, the second one released in 1986 itself. Even the increasingly visible problems with stimulants did not prevent the musicians from reaching new peaks.

Droga do “Murder Ballads”
At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, the project leader successfully underwent rehab, which resulted in another change in sound. “Bad Seeds” featured more ballads and a piano sound, which the public particularly liked, as evidenced by its critical and commercial success The Good Son from 1990. The next ones did even better – Henry’s Dream oonce Let Love In, which proved that Nick Cave’s post-punk energy had not left him – but it quickly turned out that neither had his passion for ballads.
Work on Murder Ballads – the band’s ninth studio album – spanned several years, and the material included in this release began to be recorded already in 1993, but the musicians didn’t quite know what to do with it, as the resulting compositions did not match those recorded in the first half. 90s albums. Ultimately, it was decided to collect what was already there and add stylistically appropriate compositions, including folk ones whose mood and theme matched the above-mentioned title.

What do “murder ballads” hide?
Exactly February 5, 1996 The ninth studio album was released this year project Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, but even earlier, the first single from the album was released as a duet with Kylie Minogue composition Where the Wild Roses Grow – and it began. The idea of collaborating with one of the most popular artists at that time – and on such an unobvious song with such an iconic music video – put the group at the peak of popularity. The video aired almost non-stop on MTV, and Nick knew the song’s success would translate into album sales. This is what actually happened – Murder Ballads it peaked at number three on the Australian charts and eighth in the UK, and is still the group’s best-selling album. At this stage, however, it still has not opened the door for the group to conquer the American market.
However, there was more and more talk about the band, and on such a scale that the music video for Where the Wild Roses Grow was nominated for an MTV Award, but Cave asked for it to be withdrawn. At that moment it was already clear that everything had changed in the history of the band Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and whether they wanted it or not, they had entered the mainstream forever, and their sound, increasingly dominated by wistful, refined the sounds of the piano, the whole world would now be delighted with.
