Nick Cannon Opens Up About Narcissistic Personality Disorder Diagnosis, Finding Strength in Healing
Los Angeles, CA – Entertainment personality Nick Cannon has bravely opened up about his diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder, sharing his journey of self-discovery and embracing mental health awareness.
Cannon, best known as the host of "The Masked Singer" and a father of twelve, revealed his diagnosis earlier this month on his podcast, "Counsel Culture."
"I still don’t understand it all the way, but I kind of always wanted to get tested for it," Cannon shared in a recent interview with People magazine. "I did a bunch of tests," he continued, adding that he had also previously been diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia.
"I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD. Even as a kid it was dyslexia, but just knowing that I’m just a neurodivergent individual, I kind of always knew,” Cannon said.
His candidness extends beyond his podcast, as he recently spoke openly about his journey during a Thanksgiving event at the Los Angeles Mission.
"I feel like there’s so many labels out there, but it’s like, to be able to embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me.’ I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way. To be able to say I’m an example for others, but also be healing during the self-process works too," he said.
Cannon’s openness about his diagnosis is both personal and powerfully public. In a society that often stigmatizes mental health issues, his willingness to confront his struggles head-on sends a positive message about seeking help and embracing self-improvement.
Cannon’s story resonates with a growing national conversation surrounding mental health awareness. By sharing his own experiences, he encourages others to break down stigma and seek support when needed.

People with NPD are often deeply hurting and struggling to connect with others. To those battling this disorder, I urge you to seek professional help. There is no shame in asking for support, and therapy can be incredibly beneficial in learning healthy coping mechanisms and building stronger relationships.
And to those who know someone with NPD, be patient and empathetic. It’s important to remember they are not defined by their diagnosis. Offer support and encouragement, but also set healthy boundaries.
