According to Nick Cannon on his Amazon-hosted podcast, The Daily Cannon, Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk series was the cause of the 2022 Oscars fiasco. Cannon suggested that if it weren’t for the show, Will Smith wouldn’t have slapped Chris Rock across the face in response to a joke about his wife’s shaved head. The Masked Singer presenter celebrated the show’s cancellation, saying, “I don’t want to know all this s*** about y’all. I just want to mind my own Black business.” Abby De La Rosa, the mother to three of Cannon’s children, disagreed and felt that the series was relatable and human. This news follows the announcement that Meta, the parent company of Facebook Watch, is canceling its original shows as part of a cost-cutting initiative. Smith’s Red Table Talk show, which she hosts with her mother and daughter, comes to an end after five seasons, having garnered over 11 million followers and a discussion group of 600,000 members.
