The Minnesota Wild made sure to retain depth in the center by offering a one-year contract to forward Nick Bjugstad on Monday.
The 6-foot-6 colossus will be paid a salary of $ 900,000 over the term of the deal, a far cry from the $ 4.1 million he has earned annually for the past six seasons.
Bjugstad won his bet after an unconvincing 2019-2020 campaign marked by injuries. In his first season in Minnesota, the 28-year-old had six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 44 games. He also set a career high with a +7 rating.
The Minneapolis native added one goal in six playoff games.
Selected 19th by the Florida Panthers in the 2010 Draft, Bjugstad has nine seasons of National Hockey League experience. The one who also wore the Pittsburgh Penguins has 224 points in 483 career games.
