Many of you have wondered where this thick black smoke came from, also visible from the sea on Monday, October 31, 2022. It was around 10:00 am that a spectacular vehicle fire broke out on the A8 motorway towards Italy in Nice (Alpes Maritimes ).
Firefighters intervened in a van totally on fire about 50 meters after the Las Planas tunnel exit in Nice-Nord.
Firefighters promptly kept the fire under control with a hose. Cooling actions were then performed on the damaged van. No casualties were reported.
Traffic still interrupted
Traffic remains relatively interrupted. At 11:45 am the travel time on this axis of the motorway was extended by 15 minutes of environment.
The vehicle is undergoing repairs. Exit 54 Nice-Nord has been reopened.
