A woman in her forties living in a neighborhood in the east of the city of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), known for drug trafficking, was injured in the neck by a stray bullet while in her living room on Saturday January 16. The shot was allegedly fired from a building opposite, 200 meters as the crow flies, from the one where the victim lives.
As reported Nice morning, the woman lives with her husband and five children in her apartment. That afternoon, around 6 p.m., she sits on her couch. As she took a bottle of water from the table, she felt a severe pain and a burn in her neck.
Touched by a bullet in the carotid artery
Her husband, surprised by the noise, came running to find his wife bleeding at the neck and a big bullet hit the window. The police quickly moved and the victim was taken to the emergency room.
At the hospital, doctors reassured her that the injury was superficial. According to the first elements, the double-glazed window would have slowed down the large caliber bullet. An investigation was opened for attempted homicide and endangering the lives of others.
