Atal is pushed out.
At the heart of a controversy, Youcef Atal is pushed out by OGC Nice. The Riviera club has made the decision to no longer play its right side.
The 68 minutes played against Brest (0-0), on October 1 during the 7th day of Ligue 1, will probably be Youcef Atal’s last in the OGC Nice jersey. Caught in turmoil after relaying an anti-Semitic message on social networks, the 27-year-old right-back became unwanted at the Gym.
Suspended by his club, sanctioned with a 7-match suspension by the LFP and summoned by the courts for “incitement to hatred on grounds of religion» , the Algerian international alienated his club. According to the daily Nice-Matin, the decision was made within the OGCN: Fennec will no longer wear the red and black jersey.
Nice wants to sell Atal
The leaders of the Riviera club, and more particularly the shareholder INEOS, did not at all appreciate finding themselves involved in this new controversy, a few months after the noise caused by the Christophe Galtier affair. Today, Nice therefore wants to sell Atal in January, six months before the end of his contract.
The regional newspaper ensures that no club has yet taken a position on the matter. This is rather logical since the former Paradou AC player will be tried before the Nice criminal court on December 18. He faces a sentence of one year in prison. A risk which logically pushes potential suitors to wait for the verdict.
