The revision of the vaccine guidelines aims to get more citizens being injected with the first dose of vaccine
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON – The head of the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) has reassured the public that they will get a second Covid-19 vaccination following a revised guideline, which aims to prioritize more first-dose vaccines.
“The public will receive their second (injection), whether it be the Pfizer vaccine or AstraZeneca,” said NHS CEO Simon Stevens. The statement was made when asked by Reuters about changes in guidelines that delay the administration of a second dose for most people until 12 weeks after the first immunization.
Stevens emphasized that vaccine reprioritization means that twice as many people will be given the first dose of the vaccine over the next few weeks.
In granting permission to use the emergency vaccine to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, Britain was the first country followed by the United States and Germany. France included giving permission for the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine a few days later. The French government had protested by citizens there because of its delay in responding to the need for vaccination.
