A new video challenge that was not in favor of the Montreal Canadiens on Monday prompted striker Brendan Gallagher to react.
Not being with his teammates during the matchup against the Arizona Coyotes, Gallagher watched helplessly as Nick Schmaltz netted the Coyotes 4-2 in the middle period in an eventual 5-2 loss.
On the sequence, head coach Dominique Ducharme requested a video review, believing that Antoine Roussel had come into contact with goalkeeper Cayden Primeau, thus interfering with his work and preventing him from making the save on the throw of Schmaltz.
The NHL ruled that the contact between Roussel and Primeau was caused by a push from Alexander Romanov. The Canadian therefore did not win the case and in addition to the goal allowed, a penalty was awarded on the sequence.
Gallagher questions NHL decisions

After the situation that occurred at the end of the game against the Chicago Blackhawks last Thursday, Gallagher reacted through his Twitter account to this new decision which was not in favor of the Canadian by comparing with other events that occurred this season.
In his Twitter post, Gallagher compares a goal that went unallowed against Carolina this year, but on Monday night such a goal was ruled good against Arizona. He also raises a similar situation with a disallowed goal against Tampa Bay this season and the one awarded to the Hawks last Thursday.
” What is the difference? I ask for a friend,” he added in his post.
disallowed goal vs Carolina this year/vs Arizona goal that counted tonight
Disallowed goal vs tampa this year/vs Chicago goal that counted the other night
…. What’s the difference? 🤔. Asking for a friend

Thursday evening, a goal had been allocated to Philipp Kurashev in overtime after contact with the goalkeeper and an offside situation which had been revised, but without success for the Montreal Canadiens.
