NHL: Rossi scores in Wild win

Austria’s ice hockey striker Marco Rossi scored his first goal of the current NHL season. With the Minnesota Wild, the Vorarlberger won the guest game against the St. Louis Blues 4-1 on Tuesday (local time).

Rossi was on the ice for almost 17 minutes in his team’s fourth game of the season and scored the goal in the final third to make it 3-1 (41st). For Minnesota it was the second win in the NHL regular season so far, after two defeats in a row.

Goalie scores for Minnesota

Ryan Hartman also scored for Minnesota in the power play (4th), Jakub Lauko with a shorthander (8th) and goalie Filip Gustavsson scored into the empty goal shortly before the end (60th). Gustavsson’s remarkable goal is the first goalie goal in franchise history.

Mathieu Joseph scored the only goal for the hosts from Missouri (51st). Minnesota was missing defenseman and captain Jared Spurgeon and center Joel Eriksson Ek was injured.

Rossi is Austria’s only professional in the strongest ice hockey league in the world. In addition to his first goal, the 23-year-old has already contributed three assists in the four games of the season so far.
