NHL record holder Marlo’s number will be immortalized in February – Hockey – Sportacentrs.com

Patrick Marleau, who was drafted with the second number back in 1997, played 1,779 games in the NHL, breaking the record held by Gordie Howe. The forward holds the San Jose Sharks record for both goals scored (522) and points scored (1,111).

Marlo, who spent 23 seasons in the NHL, played for the Sharks, spent two seasons in the shirt of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and played eight more matches as a hockey player for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is seventh in NHL history in game-winning goals with 109.

Marleau never managed to win a Stanley Cup, but he achieved success on the international stage. In the ranks of the Canadian national team, the forward won the Olympic gold in 2010 and 2014, and became the world champion in 2003 and 2004.

Marleau did not play last season, announcing his retirement this summer.
