For Michael Raffl and the Washington Capitals, the NHL season is over.
The capitals lose in the Stanley Cup playoffs game 5 of the first round against the Boston Bruins in the domestic Capital One Arena 1: 3 and thus the “best of seven” series with 1: 4.
After a goalless first third, David Pastrnak shoots the guests in the lead in the 23rd minute, Patrice Bergeron (35th) increases to 2-0. In the final section, Conor Sheary scored the next goal after just 11 seconds. With his second goal, Bergeron closes the bag eight minutes before the end and fixes the fourth Bruins victory in a row.
Goalie Tuukka Rask played a major role in the win, with 40 of 41 shots at his goal, while Ilya Samsonov conceded 3 goals with only 19 shots.
The Villacher Raffl is not in the squad of the Capitals.
“I think we played a very good game, we just didn’t score any goals,” said Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin, who shot four times on the Bruins goal. “Rask played very well and they took their chances.”
The next opponent of the Bruins is the winner of the duel Pittsburgh Penguins against New York Islanders. In an even series, the score is 2: 2.
Avalanche sweepen Blues
The Colorado Avalanche are 4-0 with a 5-2 win at the St. Louis Blues in game four of the “Best of Seven” series and are thus in the next round. Vladimir Tarasenko’s brace (25th, 49th / PP) is not enough for the Missouri team. Brandon Saad (22./PP), Gabriel Landeskog (35.), Mikko Rantanen (45.), Nathan McKinnon (60./PP/EN) and Valeri Nichushkin (60./PP/EN) eliminate the Blues with their goals .
Avs goalie Philipp Grubauer has 18 saves, Jordan Binnington can hold 29 of 32 shots for the blues.
The Nashville Predators win after double overtime 4: 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes and thus ensure the 2: 2 equalization in the series. Luke Kunin scores the winning goal after 17 minutes in the second extra segment.
It is also the American who shoots the Predators in the lead after 57 seconds in regular time. Ryan Johansen (25th) and Nick Cousins (44th / PP) score the other goals of the Predators. Vincent Trocheck (19th) and Brock McGinn (39th, 41st) hold for the Hurricanes against it.
Predators goalkeeper Juuse Saros saves 58 of 61 shots on his box. Alex Nedeljkovic in the “Canes” goal has 39 saves after 43 attempts.
Jets win after 1: 4 deficit against Oilers
The Winnipeg Jets celebrate a 5-4 overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers and take a 3-0 lead in the series.
Leon Draisaitl shoots the Oilers in the first third with two goals within three minutes. Nikolaj Ehlers scored the next goal in the 38th minute, but Zack Kassian (39th) and Jujhar Khaira (45th) even gave the Oilers a comfortable 3-goal lead. The Jets still do not give up and force through goals from Mathieu Perreault (52nd / PP), Blake Wheeler (55th) and Josh Morrissey (55th), in which Ehlers becomes the match winner after 9 minutes.
This means that the jets can make everything clear on Tuesday night.
