The party is over in Toronto
It’s been a busy week for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who hosted the NHL All-Star Weekend, where four of their players were featured. But now it’s back to business. The Maple Leafs (25-14-8) will look for their fourth straight victory when they host the New York Islanders (7 p.m. ET; TVAS, SN, MSGSN).
Toronto is tied for first place in the East, tied with the Detroit Red Wings, but has lost its two games against the Islanders this season, both times by a score of 4-3 in overtime. But for this third clash, there will be a new face behind the New York bench, since Patrick Roy took over from Lane Lambert as head coach on January 20.
So far, successes are coming for Roy in his new role. The Islanders (20-17-12) are 1-2-1 since his arrival as they try to stay in the playoff race in the East. They are six points behind second place in the fourth ace. They haven’t scored more than three goals in a game in their last eight games, the last time being January 10 against – ironically – the Maple Leafs.
