NHL: Milestones for the congenial duo – North America

After four losses in a row, the Edmonton Oilers are back on the road to success. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl had great credit for this.

Most recently, the Oilers’ engine had faltered. Defeats followed against Montreal, Detroit, New York and Colorado. The defensive in particular was not at its best in these games and Edmonton often gave up a lead carelessly.

On Tuesday, the NHL beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2. Leon Draisaitl scored to make it 2-2, it was his 34th goal of the season. The 27-year-old from Cologne also gave two assists. His partner Connor McDavid scored his 43 and 44 goals this season which made the success perfect. The 26-year-old Canadian put the Oilers ahead with 7:21 minutes to go, before hitting an empty goal with 2:25 minutes to go.

McDavid also assisted in Draisaitl’s goal, his 800th point of his NHL career and Draisaitl’s 700. Overall, McDavid now has 802 points in 545 games and Draisaitl has 701 in 614 games. McDavid leads the season’s scoring list with 105 points (44 goals/61 assists). “That was an important win for us. We’ll take the points and stay tuned,” said Draisaitl.

Only four players were faster than McDavid

McDavid is the fifth fastest player in NHL history to reach the 800 mark. Only Wayne Gretzky (352 games), Mario Lemieux (410), Mike Bossy (525) and Peter Stastny (531) managed to do that in fewer games.
