In the traditional Canadian duel, the Oilers lost 3: 4 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday (local time).
Draisaitl equalized with his fifth and sixth goals of the season to 2-2 (48th), but Auston Matthews made the decision in the eventful final phase. Draisaitl’s team-mate Dominik Kahun shot twice on goal in just over twelve minutes, but remained unlucky. Edmonton is fifth in the Scotia North Division after three wins from nine games.
Two ranks behind are Tim Stützle and the Ottawa Senators in last place. After the 4-1 defeat at the Vancouver Canucks, the Senators are still waiting for their second win of the season.
There were also bankruptcies for Thomas Greiss from the Detroit Red Wings and the Buffalo Sabers, with whom Tobias Rieder plays. Greiss came on as a substitute after two thirds at 3: 7 at the Dallas Stars. At that point it was 1: 3. Rieder stayed at 2: 3 after extra time against the New York Rangers without any significant action.
In contrast, the focus was on Philipp Grubauer. The goalkeeper led the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-0 win against the San Jose Sharks with 21 saves. In addition, Nico Sturm celebrated a 5-3 win against the Los Angeles Kings with the Minnesota Wild.
