Each of the 32 NHL clubs nominates a representative to the Bill Masterton Trophy. The trophy named after the only hockey player who died directly as a result of an injury suffered in an NHL match was won by Jaromír Jágr in the Florida jersey as the only Czech in the 2015/16 season.

Chara, 45, was the oldest NHL player this season and has played 24th overall. He holds the record in the number of starts among the defenders in the basic part, the native of Trenčín caught 1680 of them.

Hayes struggled with injuries throughout the season, before which he had two abdominal surgeries and another in January. Even so, he managed to play 48 matches and collected 31 points. After the March exchange of Captain Claude Giroux to Florida, he also took on one of the leading roles in the Flyers team.

After the treatment of knee and mental problems, Montreal Price goalkeeper did not catch for the first time until mid-April. In the end, he managed five starts. The winner will be announced between the third and fourth Stanley Cup finals.
