Slovak hockey player Juraj Slafkovský has moved to Montreal. According to foreign journalist Eric Engels, the 18-year-old Canadiens striker will move to a surrogate family that will provide him with comprehensive care. The publisher informed him on the Twitter social network.
“He’s still only 18 and doesn’t really know the city yet. Give him more of a ‘normal life’ and make sure he takes care of him. I think that’s the most important thing.” Engels quoted Montreal manager Martin St. Luisa. Teammates in this year’s draft unit and fellow rookies Arber Xhekaj and Jordan Harris will move from Brossard to center.
Before arriving in the NHL, Slafkovský played for TPS Turku, while living alone in Finland since he was 16. Prior to the draft, he also impressed representatives of the NHL’s most famous club by being able to take care of himself at such a young age and in a foreign country.
Slafkovský has not scored in the first four games of the professional league. At Wednesday’s training, the coaches again put him in the fourth attack. The Canadiens will host Arizona on Friday night.
