Slovak hockey goalkeeper Jaroslav Halák will continue his career in Vancouver. As an unlimited free agent signed an annual $ 1.5 million contract with Canucks, he can earn another $ 1.5 million in performance bonuses, according to TSN.

At the Canadian NHL club, he will replace Braden Holtby, who was bought out of contract by the Canucks, and will complete Thatcher Demk in tandem.

The Canucks have not yet officially confirmed the contract, but TSN has already informed about its structure. Halak should receive $ 750,000 in salary and another $ 750,000 in signing bonus.

Another performance bonus of 1.25 mil. dollars can be obtained if he catches at least 10 matches in the following season. He’ll credit another $ 250,000 if he hits a hit of at least 90.5 percent.

Thirty-six-year-old Halák captured the past three seasons in Boston, where he covered the back of Finn Tuukk Rask most of the time. At the end of last season, however, a newcomer Jeremy Swayman caught up at the Bruins casino and pushed the Slovak out of the post of goalie two “bears”.

He caught 19 games for Boston last year, with an average of 2.53 goals per game and a success rate of 90.5 percent. After the end of the season, his annual contract for 2.25 mil. dollars.

Halák caught a total of 539 matches in the NHL. He started his pre-league career in the Montreal Canadiens, continued in St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, and most recently in Boston. Twice, William M. Jennings won the Trophy for the goalkeeper catching the team with the lowest number of goals collected.
