NHL: Hurricanes inflict nasty home defeat on Bruins – Winter Sports

The Carolina Hurricanes have fun with the Boston Bruins on NHL night. The pursuer in the Eastern Conference responds to the last two defeats with a 6-0 in Massachusetts.

Sebastian Aho made it 3-0 (29th) and 5-0 (42nd/PP), Andrei Svechnikov not only made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute but also had two assists. Goalie Frederik Andersen made 34 saves in the shutout.

With two games down, the Canes in the East are now two points behind the Florida Panthers, who have played two games more and have been off the ice since February 2nd. Next game on the agenda would be the Carolina summit in six days.

The Hurricanes take second place from the Tampa Bay Lightning, who lost 3-2 at the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs have always scored in the last 18 games and have won eleven of the last twelve games.

The Pittsburgh Penguins also drew level with the reigning Stanley Cup winners in the conference with a 2-0 win in Ottawa. In the division, the Pens are missing a point on Carolina, but Sidney Crosby and Co. have already played three games more.

Leafs streak over

Jakob Markstrom made 46 saves in the Calgary Flames’ 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. It ends a six-game winning streak as the Flames win their fifth consecutive win.

There is no coaching effect at the Montreal Canadiens after the dismissal of coach Dominique Ducharme. The first game under Martin St. Louis is lost 2-5 against the Washington Capitals. Joe Snively scores his first two NHL goals.

A hangover goal spectacle for the home fans awaits in St. Louis, where their Blues lead spectacularly 3-2 after 40 minutes and concede five goals in the final period. The New Jersey Devils eventually win 7-4. Nico Hischier scores two of those goals for the turnaround.

The Columbus Blue Jackets win 4:3 after overtime at the Buffalo Sabers, Jakub Voracek decides the game after 16 seconds.
