On Saturday (local time) the Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League (NHL) – without the Carinthian Michael Raffl – conceded a 2-3 defeat at the New York Islanders after a shootout. Anthony Beauvillier had put the hosts 2-0 in front in the second third with a double strike within four minutes, Claude Giroux only needed just as long for his two goals in the third period. In the penalty shootout, however, both failed, Mathew Barzal scored decisive.
For the other New York club it ended exactly the other way around, the Rangers were defeated in Buffalo 2: 3 after penalty shootouts. The Sabers wrote to for the second time after their 18-match loss series. This only ended on Wednesday against the Flyers. Buffalo equalized twice against the Rangers, and Tage Thompson put the decisive penalty into the net.
