The New York Rangers can celebrate a very successful start to the new NHL season! They achieved a clear 6-0 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night.
Already after the first third things are pretty clear: Carrick (3rd), Lafreniere (18th) and Kreider (20th) ensure a 3-0 lead before the first half-time siren. Another goal from Cuylle is disallowed after a trainer challenge (10th).
The Penguins got into the game better in the second period, but Shesterkin ruined promising attempts. On the other side, Chytil made the preliminary decision (30th).
The final third was similar, Kreider crowned a strong performance and made it 5-0 with a shorthander (52nd). Trocheck also scores in the last minutes (57th).
Montreal celebrates in a close Canada duel
The Montreal Canadiens also have reason to be happy about a successful start. They surprisingly won the domestic Canadian duel against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a narrow 1-0.
Caufield scored the final gold goal in the first third on the power play (8th). As the game continued, the Maple Leafs ran in vain. Canadiens goalie Montembeault played a large part in the prestigious success, as he was able to thwart all 45 attempts by Matthews & Co.
Torfestival in Las Vegas
The fans in Las Vegas experienced a score-filled evening with no fewer than 12 goals, where the Golden Knights won 8-4 against the Colorado Avalanche.
The guests make it 1-0 through Rantanen (11th), but are behind 1-3 after the first third. Until the beginning of the final third, they stayed within 4:5 before Stone (49th), Barbashev (54th) and Howden (20th, empty net) made the decision.
