Next gala, next victory: Ice hockey superstar Leon Draisaitl (26) and his Edmonton Oilers are getting better and better in the playoffs of the North American professional league NHL and are showing real playoff form.
The Canadians gave the NHL fans another spectacle in the third round of 16 game against the Los Angeles Kings and won a well-deserved 8-2. On the night of Saturday (May 7, 2022), Leon Draisaitl contributed the important goal to make it 1-0 and an assist.
NHL: Draisaitl initiates victory against ex-national coach
As in game two, Draisaitl scored the goal to make it 1-0 and later scored another goal. Evander Kane also scored a hat-trick while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored a brace. Goalkeeper Mike Smith (30), who made a decisive mistake in game one, put in a strong performance with 44 saves against the Kings, with former national coach Marco Sturm (43) acting as assistant coach.
This put the Oilers 2-1 in the best-of-seven series, and they had already won the second game 6-0 after the surprising opening defeat (3-4). Game four takes place on Monday night.
Nico Sturm is also hoping for the next round
Nico Sturm (27), another German, also has a good chance of progressing NHL pro. Before game three, which takes place on Sunday night, his Colorado Avalanche lead 2-0 against the Nashville Predators.
