Hronek entered the statistics already in the 2nd minute, when he was at the beginning of the action, which was ended by the Swedish striker Jonatan Berggren with the opening goal. Thanks to a goal by Gustav Forsling and two hits by Aaron Ekblad, Florida scored 3:1, but the Red Wings dramatized the end of the game. Hronek moved the puck to Robby Fabri and reduced the score to 2:3 with an up-and-down shot in the 57th minute. However, Detroit failed to do more, and after their third loss in their last five games, dropped to 12th in the Eastern Conference, one point behind Florida.
Dominik Kubalík, the other Czech who entered the game with the Red Wings shirt, didn’t score despite two very promising situations. In the first period, with the score 1: 1, he did not hit the half-empty goal with his backhand and in the 46th minute he shot with his stick behind Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Russian goalkeeper was also helped by the structure of the goal during Jake Walman’s shot. In other cases, however, it was he who kept the Panthers in the game. “Bobrovsky decided the fate of today’s game practically by himself. He made several big hits and led Florida to victory. He was the first, second and third star of the game,” praised Russian goalkeeper Derek Lalonde, coach of Detroit.
In the mid-game, Hertl won the puck for Kevin Labanc, whose shot went just beyond goalkeeper Timo Meier’s reach, to give San Jose a 3–2 lead. Thanks to two goals by Mason McTavish, Anaheim took the game to overtime, in which John Klingberg decided the victory for the Ducks. The Sharks have lost the fourth of their last five games and are 13th in the Western Conference standings. Anaheim is still second to last despite their second straight win.
Winnipeg beat Tampa Bay 4-2 for their fourth straight victory. Pierre-Luc Dubois scored two goals to win the Jets, Josh Morrissey, the second most productive defender in the competition, drew attention to himself with three assists. The Canadian guard has collected 46 points in 39 games and is eight points behind San Jose’s dominant Erik Karlsson.
“Josh is having a fantastic season. He hasn’t surprised anyone on the team, we all know what he has. He’s not only our leader on the ice, but off the ice as well. I’m very happy for him,” the Jets forward praised from Morrissey Kyle Connor, who recorded two points for a goal and an assist in the game.
Calgary defeated the NY Islanders 4-1 to move one point ahead of their biggest rival in Edmonton for seventh place in the Western Conference standings. Four different scorers set up victory for the Flames. Czech goalkeeper Daniel Vladař only saw his side win from substitutes.
Czech goalkeepers did not even intervene in the duel between Chicago and Arizona. Connor Ingram had priority over Karl Vejmelka and Alex Stalock stepped in for Petr Mrázek. It was the 35-year-old American goalkeeper who starred in the duel between two struggling teams, covered all 22 shots on Chicago’s goal and with his first clean sheet since February 2020 led the Blackhawks to a 2-0 win.
