The New York Rangers announced Friday that Chris Drury has been promoted to “associate general manager”.

Drury is currently in his sixth season in the administrative role with the Rangers. He joined the organization in September 2015.

He was previously director of player development, then deputy GM from 2016. In this last role, he was in charge of the Harford Wolf Pack, the Rangers’ school team in the AHL.

During his 12-season NHL career, the former hockey player totaled 892 games with the Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabers and Rangers, amassing 615 points.

Recently, Drury politely declined a request from the Pittsburgh Penguins to interview him for the vacant GM position.
