With the NHL season in full swing, NHL Arcadethe fan-favorite game, returns today in NHL 25 as a limited-time event that will appear again on the World of Chel season calendar. World of Chel players can play a modern 3-on-3 version of this fast-paced, action-packed arcade classic, with wacky power-ups that take ice hockey to the next level.
It is played in the NHL Arcade Arena, a custom-built rink with no glass, rules or interruptions, where the first to score five goals or five minutes of overtime decides the winner. All players have the same OVR rating and height/weight, so upgrades make the difference. Players can team up with friends or jump into a game as a solo skater or goalie.
Starting today, Friday, November 15, at 7:00 PM, WoC will introduce one of three Arcade Mode variations over the coming weeks and months, offering players new power-ups and stadium events to keep the experience fresh and exciting.
NHL ARCADE
A modern reinterpretation of a classic. Take control of any of the players on the track, including the goalkeeper. Release team boosts by performing body checks or shooting on goal.
Featured Power Ups:
- Supershot – An uncatchable shot that opens the way to the net and knocks down the goalkeeper, creating a mad scramble for the rebound
- Big Player – Become extraordinary defenders by growing in size. Perform mega checks that can send opposing players off track
- Freeze – Freeze an opponent and gain a brief player advantage. Frozen players can exit the ice earlier by mashing buttons.
- Banana – A trio of bananas creates havoc, giving you the chance to knock down opposing skaters
- Super Speed – Strap on a pair of rockets and hurtle across the ice at blinding speeds
- Double Score – As the name suggests, double your goals when this power-up is active
- Small Goalie – This upgrade shrinks the opposing goalkeeper to increase his chances of scoring, but even smaller goalies can make heroic saves
- Big Goalie – Zoom in on your goalie to make great saves and even stop Supershots! Remember that great goalkeepers have a better chance of scoring a goal for you by passing between the spaces left by their position.
NHL ARCADE+
This spiritual sequel features all the features of NHL Arcade and four additional power-ups to add havoc on the ice.
Featured Power Ups:
- Lightning – Lightning adds a jolt of electricity to the game and can electrocute anyone – friend, foe or puck – knocking them out of action for a short time
- Curse – It is a voodoo doll that casts a curse and reverses commands
- TNT Puck – It turns the puck into a game-changing explosive, knocking down anyone in its radius
- Angry Mascot – Get help from your club’s mascot and let him run wild, destroying anyone in his way
NHL FRENZY
NHL action literally out of this world. Compete in the exhilarating NHL Arcade experience with otherworldly guests who bring with them some new surprises.
Featured Power Ups:
- Abduction Beam – A UFO will explode a capture ray on the ice and any player caught in the ray will be knocked out of action for a certain period of time
- Laser Attack – A UFO sends laser beams that hit and crack the ice, leaving behind trails of fire that knock out all players who pass through the area for a certain period of time
