Chris Kreider’s upper body injury, which forfeited the game, forced head coach Gerard Gallant to make line changes. Consequently, Lafrenière will find himself on the left wing of the line completed by Mika Zibanejad and Kaapo Kakko.
Kreider suffered the injury during Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Wild. Gallant told NHL.com that he won’t be inactive for long, with the veteran’s case being assessed daily. This season, he has 19 goals and 11 assists for 30 points in 42 games.
