NGO Global Citizen Announces Free Charity Concert in Paris: Fighting Climate Change and Poverty

Lenny Kravitz, Billie Eilish, Ben Harper and other artists will perform on June 22 in Paris, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, during a charity concert broadcast online. The announcement was made by the NGO Global Citizen, a “movement of committed citizens” against global warming and poverty. The event will take place on the sidelines of an international summit organized by the Élysée.

The artists HER, Jon Batiste, Finneas and Mosimann will also participate in this free show, which had already welcomed many stars in 2021, including Elton John or the Black Eyed Peas. titled this year Power our planet : live in Paristhe event will highlight the summit for a “new global financial pact” facing the climate challenge, organized on June 21 and 22 in the capital.

The idea for this summit was launched at COP27 in Egypt with the Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley – whose island is on the front line in the face of the threats of climate change -, who co-chairs the “Power our planet” from Global Citizen.

The NGO hopes for “strong commitments” in Paris from the new president of the World Bank, Ajay Banga, from the American secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, and from the nations of the G20. She calls for a ” radical change “ to enable poor developing countries to have access “the financing they urgently need to accelerate their transition to clean energy, build their resilience to natural disasters and meet their most pressing needs”.

Co-founded in 2008 by Australian Hugh Evans, Global Citizen (headquartered in New York) has organized a festival every year since 2012 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, distributing free tickets to people promising to mobilize against poverty.

For this concert given on June 22 in Paris, the day after the music festival, tickets can be won by “carrying out actions” on the NGO’s app or website to support the “Power Our Planet” campaign. “Each action performed earns points“explains the organization. These points will allow you to enter the draw to win the precious sesame.
