NFL Viewership on RTL: Highs and Lows Throughout the Evening

Sunday on RTL this week was even more focused on the NFL than usual because there was already a broadcast from London in the afternoon, where the Atlanta Falcons met the Jacksonville Jaguars. An average of 390,000 viewers watched the first quarter from 3:30 p.m., which increased to 510,000 by the 4th quarter from 5:40 p.m. The market shares among 14 to 49 year olds were between 10.2 and 11.3 percent and were therefore consistently at a fairly good level.

One problem, however, was that not too many other football fans showed up as the evening progressed. For the first game of the evening between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns, the total audience ranged between 520,000 and 560,000 people. The market share among 14 to 49 year olds between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. was only between 6.8 and 7.4 percent. If you look at the 14 to 59 year olds, which RTL itself, as is well known, sees as the decisive group, then the market shares were only between 4.3 and 4.6 percent.

It wasn’t until late in the evening that at least the market shares moved up again at the New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys game: from 11 p.m. in the second quarter, the 10 percent mark was already scratched among 14 to 49 year olds, after midnight they were Values then double digits. Here too, the market shares were significantly lower among 14 to 59 year olds and were still less than 7 percent even at midnight.

In primetime, RTL was only on par with Vox among 14 to 49-year-olds, where “Hot oder Schrott – Celebrity Special” achieved a market share of 7.4 percent. The overall reach was significantly higher than RTL, with an average of 0.83 million viewers. The evening before, “The Beet Brothers” reached 1.38 million people on Vox, and the market share among 14 to 49 year olds was a strong 10.3 percent.
