Absent during the first nine weeks of NFL activities, star running back Christian McCaffrey will finally begin his season this Sunday, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed after Thursday’s practice that the team will be able to count on the services of its No. 1 running back.
Both the 49ers (4-4) and the Bucs (4-5) currently find themselves in second place in their respective divisions. San Francisco returns from its bye week.
“It was two good days of training in a row for him,” Shanahan said. He was impressive yesterday and today, and we hope he gets better. »
“You never know when a glitch may occur leading to a step back, but for now, I expect to have him in the fray,” said the instructor.
McCaffrey had been recovering since the beginning of September from tendinitis in both Achilles tendons.
At the end of September, he crossed the Atlantic to receive treatment. His rehabilitation program has been progressive since then, and he has only recently started training with his teammates again.
