Jonathan Owens was surprised when he met Simone Biles.
Fans wanted to take pictures with her – not him.
– They asked me: “Hey, can you take the picture?”, says Owens in The Pivot Podcast.
Simone Biles, 26, may be the greatest gymnast of all time and one of the most well-known female athletes in both the United States and the world.
But when NFL star Jonathan Owens, 28, “matched” with Biles on Raya, the celebrity dating app, in 2020, he didn’t know who she was.
“I got curious”
In the podcast “The Pivot Podcast”, Owens talks about how he met Biles.
– I had never really followed gymnastics, so I became curious, says the 28-year-old.
He reveals that he first suspected Biles account on Raya was fake because he didn’t know any celebrity named Simone.
– I didn’t know who she was then but then I saw that she had many followers and thought “okay, she must be good”.

Fans wanted to take pictures
Owens and Biles began dating, enjoyed each other and spent, among other things, a free Sunday in Houston together. Then Owens began to understand that Biles was more famous than him, even though he himself played in the NFL.
– There were a lot of mothers with their children that we passed and everyone stopped, says Owens.
They didn’t ask for pictures with him, but with Biles.
– They asked me: “Hey, can you take the picture?”, says Owens.
New successes
Biles and Owen were married this spring.
Since then, Owens has left Houston Texas for the Green Bay Packers and Biles made history as the first woman ever to perform a Yurtjenko double-kick in an international championship as she added another pair of World Cup gold medals to her record.
