NFL: Packers surprise favored Lions on Thanksgiving

The Detroit Lions (8-3) suffered a surprising 22:29 defeat against the Green Bay Packers (5-6) in the first NFL Thanksgiving game of the day.

Green Bay starts like a fire department against its division rival: the Packers are able to pull away to 20:6 in the first quarter.

Two early touchdown passes from Packers QB Jordan Love and a fumble from his counterpart Jared Goff, which Jonathan Owens carries into the opposing end zone for a touchdown, ensure the Green Bay points.

Goff fumbles break Lions neck

The main reason why Detroit never gets close to the Packers is because of the turnovers. Lions quarterback Goff loses the ball three times, two fumbles are attributable to Rashan Gary, who ends his working day with three sacks.

Only at the end can Detroit make the game a little more exciting – but too late. Jared Goff finished the game with 332 passing yards, two touchdowns, but also three fumbles.

Jordan Love, however, ensures the Packers’ second win in a row with his 268 passing yards and three touchdowns.
