NFL offers US government stadiums for corona vaccinations

The US association NFL is offering the government all football stadiums for use as large vaccination centers in the fight to contain the corona pandemic. Seven stadiums are already being used for vaccinations, and in the future all others will be available if necessary, said the head of the National Football League (NFL), Roger Goodell, in a letter to President Joe Biden on Friday.

This is agreed with the 32 teams of the NFL. Because many stadiums have already been offered or used as corona test centers and polling stations, this could easily be implemented, as Goodell wrote.

Biden is putting great pressure on the vaccination campaign, which started slowly at first. On Friday, the government announced that it would also send more than 1,000 armed forces personnel to large vaccination centers. In the US, a country of 330 million people, around 29 million people have received the first vaccination so far, and 7.5 million people have already received both doses, according to data from the CDC. Almost 60 million doses of vaccine have been shipped to the states.
