According to information from ESPN-Reporter Adam Schefter leaves Jalen Ramsey for the Los Angeles Rams. The NFL franchise has therefore agreed on a trade with the Miami Dolphins.
The Rams will receive a 2023 third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long in return for the star cornerback. The deal is set to become official on Wednesday, when the 2023 league year begins.
The Dolphins are closing the gap that opened up after Byron Jones was fired. That’s why Miami recently made some adjustments (Hill, Chubb and Terron Armstead) to salaries.
The trade will add $19.6 million in dead money to the Rams on their 2023 salary cap and $5.6 million in savings.
Ramsey joined Los Angeles from the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 in exchange for two first-round draft picks for 2020 and 2021 and a fourth-round draft pick for 2021. Less than a year later, the Rams signed him for five years and $105 million, which was the largest deal at his position at the time.
The three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler has three years left on his contract. In the last two years, however, no money is guaranteed.
Last season, he was one of the top cornerbacks in the league with four interceptions, 18 pass interceptions, 12 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two sacks. In seven seasons, Ramsey totaled 19 interceptions, seven forced fumbles and two sacks.
