The New York Jets are ready to receive offers for quarterback Sam Darnold.
That’s what CEO Joe Douglas told reporters on Wednesday.
“I’ll listen to the calls, if there are any. Sam is a dynamic player in this league with a dynamic talent. But if I get calls, I’ll answer them, ”said Douglas, reports Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.
Darnold’s future in New York has been uncertain since the Jets secured the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. According to various media outlets, the team needed to assess the quarterbacks available in the next draft before deciding Darnold’s future. Douglas added on Wednesday that he was not setting a deadline for making a choice.
Since making his NFL debut in 2018, Darnold has completed 59.8% of his passes, averaging 213.1 yards per game and throwing 45 touchdown passes against 39 interceptions.
Third overall in 2018, Darnold has a year to go on his rookie contract, but he has an option year for the fifth year. His salary next year will be $ 9.8 million.
