With ten wins from their first twelve NFL games, the New Orleans Saints are the first team to be in the playoffs.
In Week 12 the Saints – still in the absence of quarterback Drew Brees – beat the Atlanta Falcons (4-8) not convincingly, but 21:16.
Taysom Hill completed 27 of his 37 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns, running an additional 83 yards. Alvin Kamara contributes the third touchdown and 88 yards.
New Orleans continues to have a good chance of grabbing the first seed in the NFC. Since this season, seven teams per conference have moved into the playoffs, only the top seed enjoys a bye week.
Jets dramatically miss their first win of the season
At the very last second, the New York Jets (0-12) give up their first win of the season.
In a game with high points you have to admit defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders (7-5) at home with 28:31. There are exactly five seconds left on the clock when it is 28:24 in favor of the jets. But then Raiders-QB Derek Carr throws a long pass to rookie reciever Henry Ruggs, who scores the game-winning touchdown.
The outstanding man of the game is Raiders tight end Darren Waller, who ends up with 13 receptions for a total of 200 yards and two touchdowns.
The team from Las Vegas keeps their playoff hopes alive with this success, while the Jets have to accept their twelfth defeat in the twelfth game.
Watson surrenders victory
On the way to a game-winning drive, Texans QB Deshaun Watson gives a possible victory out of hand with a fumble just before the opposing end zone.
In the end, the Houston Texans (4-8) are defeated by the Indianapolis Colts (8-4) at home with 20:26. Watson throws for 341 yards, but doesn’t score a touchdown, just an interception. The Colts convince once again with a strong defense performance.
With their eighth win, the Colts are getting closer to the playoffs, but the Texans’ chances are dwindling.
Strong Browns win in Tennessee
The Cleveland Browns (9-3) win the Tennessee Titans (8-4) 41:35. The game is supposedly already decided at halftime when it is 38: 7 for the Browns.
Baker Mayfield showed a strong performance. He scored four touchdowns – all of them in the first half – and had 334 passing yards. The Browns underpin their playoff ambitions with their ninth win of the season and will definitely close the season with a winning record, which has not been successful for a long time.
The Detroit Lions (5-7) turn the game around for the Chicago Bears (5-7) and win with 34:30, the sixth loss in a row for the Bears after a good start to the season.
The Miami Dolphins (8-4) defeat the Cincinnati Bengals (2-9-1) at home 19-7, the Minnesota Vikings (6-6) celebrate a 27:24 overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars (1- 11).
