According to former Jaguars kickers Josh Lambo, Meyer made a misstep in the truest sense of the word before the start of the season. He had told the “Tampa Bay Times” that Meyer should have kicked him in training in August.
The NFL Network also reported that the head coach recently had a heated argument with wide receiver Marvin Jones and said that his assistant coach was a “loser”. Meyer denied these allegations. In October, footage with a young woman in a bar caused a stir, with whom the married father of a family had been photographed dancing, tightly embraced.
Meyer had apologized for this and was left in office by Jaguars owner Shad Khan on condition that the trust be restored. Now the barrel was finally overflowed. “I am extremely disappointed that I have come to the realization that an immediate change is inevitable,” said Khan, the offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell handed over the office on an interim basis.
Hope Meyer fails colossally
The Jaguars are in last place in the AFC South and have no chance of making it into the play-offs. Led by rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who was selected first in this year’s draft, Jacksonville won only two games this year. Meyer, who knew how to convince at college level, came as a beacon of hope, but failed colossally at his first NFL job.
Incidentally, Meyer was not the first coach this season to suffer one or more missteps. Jon Gruden resigned as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in October after it became known that he had racially insulted officials in emails ten years ago.
