It was August 13, 2022. Yaqub Talib was standing on the sidelines of a youth football game with his brother and NFL legend Aqib Talib. But after the game there were dramatic scenes. The referee called off the game. After a heated argument, Talib pulled out a pistol and shot the opposing team’s coach, Michael Hickmon. He hit the victim several times. Hickmon did not survive the attack.
Subsequently, Yacub Talib was charged. It has been clear since Monday that he has to go to prison for 37 years. His brother also took a seat in the courtroom to assist his brother. The lawyer said: “Aqib is very saddened by the terrible death.”
Aqib Talib played football in Texas while he was in high school. He was drafted first round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2008 National Football League. Talib stayed with the Buccaneers until 2012. During the season he switched to the New England Patriots. In 2013, Talib made it into the AFC championship game with the Patriots, but was beaten 16:26 by the Denver Broncos.
After the season, Talib joined the Broncos before winning the Super Bowl two years later. With the Los Angeles Rams, Talib lost Super Bowl LIII to the New England Patriots. But then the football star suffered a rib injury. Since then he has not been able to build on his old successes. On September 9, 2020 he finally announced his resignation.
