Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has always been good at dodging linemen and linebackers, but apparently he’s not sick.
Jackson missed practice again last Friday, but coach John Harbaugh reassured his star player would start Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
“He’s fine,” Harbaugh said after practice on Friday. He tried to practice with the group, but he was just too sick to practice. »
When asked about Jackson’s availability this Sunday, Harbaugh said he’ll be ready to face the Panthers.
It came as a surprise when Jackson didn’t show up for practice on Friday, but the reason for his absence surprised no one. This is the sixth time Jackson has been sidelined with illness since the start of the 2021 regular season. Last November, Jackson missed NFL Week 11 in Chicago because he was too sick. Substitute Tyler Huntley led his team to a 16-13 victory over the Bears.
Last year, Jackson repeatedly said he wasn’t concerned about how many times he got sick.
“I’ve been in good health all my life,” Jackson said last year. So far I have never had any problems with any disease. I really don’t know what it could be. »
This is the first workout Jackson has missed this year. Due to an elbow and hip injury in weeks three and seven of NFL action, Jackson was not quite healthy.
The Ravens are heavy favorites by 13 points against the Panthers. Jackson, who has never faced Carolina, is 26-2 in his first career start against a team.
If Jackson is unable to play this Sunday, Huntley would be on the court for the fifth time in his career.
Smith-Schuster and Hardman force withdrawal
According to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs will be without their two wide receivers, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman, in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chiefs shut out WR JuJu Smith-Schuster for Sunday night’s game in Los Angeles; also down Mecole Hardman, who was placed on IR.
