Why do German fans get such a kick out of a cucumber?

After Tom Brady in 2022 and Patrick Mahomes last year, there is great disillusionment. The Panthers are playing against the Giants, two of the worst teams in the league. Both have lost seven of nine league games. So it’s as if the Bundesliga game between Bochum and Kiel took place in the USA.

In addition: A win in Munich doesn’t actually do anyone any good. The playoffs are out of reach anyway, a defeat helps for a better position in the draft.

So why this appointment? The Panthers were chosen as the home team because they were one of the first teams to secure marketing rights for the German region. The Patriots, Chiefs and Seahawks were already playing in Germany, so the Panthers’ time had come.

According to BILD information, the Dallas Cowboys, the most valuable sports team in the world, were considered opponents for a long time. But Panthers owner David Tepper vetoed it. He preferred to have the Cowboys in his stadium. So the league chose the Giants because of their large fan base.

Thanks to the successes of the past, many Germans are still rooting for the team from the Big Apple. The franchise had therefore only recently secured the marketing rights for the German market.

But after the Indianapolis Colts’ 10:6 defeat against the New England Patriots in Frankfurt, the next sporting failure is looming.

Nevertheless, the euphoria of German football fans seems to be unbridled. Dr. Alexander Steinforth, the league’s Germany GM, reveals: “The first time we could have sold three million tickets. And this time there were even more people in the queue.”

The Panthers sold the house and farm for quarterback Bryce Young (23) in the spring of 2023. However, Young delivered at all and was benched this season. He gets another chance against the Giants

Who sings the anthem?

World star David Garrett will perform the American national anthem. The well-known violinist has American roots and is the son of a German lawyer and an American prima ballerina.

Singer Florentina will then sing the German national anthem.

Who is performing in the halftime show?

How BILD reported exclusivelyrap star Machine Gun Kelly will perform during halftime. In the Allianz Arena he will perform, among other things, his song “Lonely Road” – a reference to John Denver’s classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads”.

Last year, the duo of Nico Santos and Kontra K performed at the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Miami Dolphins in Frankfurt. There was no halftime show for the other games.

What do fans need to pay attention to?

If you don’t have a ticket for the game, you don’t even have to go to the stadium. This was still possible at the NFL premiere two years ago. But that was already over in Frankfurt. Only ticket holders can use the activities in front of the stadium.

On the north side of the stadium there are football-related activities, DJs and the shop.

There will be several opportunities for public viewing in the city center. For Carolina Panthers fans, there is a program in the Augustiner headquarters, while the Giants celebrate in the Hofbräuhaus.

Also important: there will no longer be any beer sales in the 4th quarter! NFL regulations state that beer sales must stop after the fourth quarter.

So if you have a ticket and are thirsty, you should urgently get a cold light beer by the end of the 3rd quarter…
