NFL: Crazy defensive move! Elliott with a hammer play

Former champions New England Patriots have ended their series of bankruptcies in the NFL professional football league and won again after five games. The team from Foxborough with long-time successful coach Bill Belichick surprisingly beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 21:18 on Friday night, but remains at the bottom of the AFC East table with just three wins.

Man of the game from the Patriots’ perspective was Ezekiel Elliott. The 28-year-old immediately refined the record champion’s first series of attacks. The running back took a pass from quarterback Bailey Zappe eleven yards into the Steelers end zone.

In general, the first-round pick from the 2016 draft was in the best mood to play. Elliott got his hands on the ball seven times via a pass, providing 72 yards. In the run, the man from Illinois was the first choice 22 times and ran for 68 yards.

But Elliott provided his personal highlight in the third quarter after an interception by the Patriots. When Steelers linebacker Mykal Walker intercepted a pass from Zappe, Elliott reacted quickly. New England’s number 15 ran across half the field and was able to stop Walker at his own 16-yard line and thus prevent the touchdown that had already been believed to be certain. “I felt so good. “I’m glad I was able to show that I still have it,” said Elliott after the match ESPN thrilled with his performance.

After that, the defense held and prevented any further Steelers points. Given the close final result, Elliott’s defensive action can be seen as decisive in the game.

Tight end Hunter Henry also had a successful day at work. On his 29th birthday, he caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Bailey Zappe, who again replaced the recently unsuccessful Mac Jones. After the Patriots led 21-3 at halftime, the Steelers’ comeback came too late. For Pittsburgh, the second home defeat within a few days was a bitter setback in the fight for the play-offs.
