A superstar comeback? | Touchdown Actu (NFL Actu)”>Saquon Barkley had no choice. In his competitive fury he suddenly found himself surrounded by opponents and from behind to boot. There was only one crazy way to continue his run, to gain a few more yards, the mission of his career, to try never to stop his progress made up of rhythm, strength, agility, inventiveness, feints and counterfeits, changes of direction as if it were raining.
Only one path, which really takes talent just to think about it, then to realize it… A leap backwards, sudden and unexpected, a leap that requires extraordinary strength in the legs and the coordination of a dancer.
Saquon Barkley did it with ease: he flew from his back onto the lowered head of Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones and overcame that human obstacle before inevitably, a few steps later, the extraordinary Philadelphia Eagles running back was grabbed and tackled by the other defenders who were chasing him.
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, a passionate football follower, astounded by the action of Phila’s new idol, exclaimed simply “crazy” on his social network.
There is no doubt that it is a fantastic gesture and the epitome of the athleticism, courage and talent of the players of the National football league. And it happens in the week inaugurated by the fantastic reception of Garrett Wilson of the Jets in the match against the Texans. And in the same game in which receiver DeVonta Smith made a sensational catch for a cheering touchdown.
But today we celebrate Barkley for something never seen before and it is his gesture that we choose for the story of the day (under all the results).
The Eagles coach, Nick Sirianni, highly criticized for an embarrassing game management that put the success of the Eagles at risk, who were largely ahead until midway through the third quarter, praised (and I would like to see) the reception from 14 yard (it all started from there) which then turned into the most acrobatic run of the entire NFL season. “It was the best play I’ve ever seen in my life,” Sirianni said.
And Sirianni laughed as she said again, “I need to check the big screen again to make sure I actually saw Barkley make the improbable possible.”
.
“Crazy”, underlined the wide receiver DeVonta Smith, also author, as mentioned, of a great play: “I’ve never seen anything like it”.
Barkley is proving why the Eagles took him away from the New York Giants and made him the highest-paid running back in franchise history with a three-year, $26 million guaranteed deal.
And him? He invoked the wills…heavenly: “I feel like God gave me the ability to play this position. He gave me some instincts,” Barkley said. “Sometimes you just have to let go and let your God-given instincts take over.”
“What I think is so cool is that there will be kids all over the country and all over Philadelphia, I really think about it, who will try to make that play and talk about that play and simulate it while they’re playing football in the backyard,” the coach who owes a lot to Barkley if he is still at the helm of the Eagles given some of his truly unfortunate choices on the pitch. “They won’t be able to repeat that leap because I think he’s the only one in the world who can do it,” he concluded.
If Phila has a positive record and still has the ambition to have its say, it is above all due to the numbers of Barkley, who, it must be said, also caused a bloody fumble which triggered a Jacksonville comeback that ended with difficulty, but above all he played a fantastic game with 159 rushing yards and a touchdown to which he added three receptions for 40 yards and another touchdown. What a show, guys, NFL stories.
