About a month ago, Sport stated that Neymar, who was rumored to be leaving PSG, offered himself to Barcelona.
The proposal must have received the nod directly from coach Xavi, according to RMC Sport. The reasons are several, claims Mundo Deportivo.
Firstly, it would have been difficult for Barcelona to sign the brass star back given that the Catalan club is under financial pressure.
Another reason has to do with how Neymar is as a person.
Mundo Deportivo state that Xavi did not want to upset the balance in the dressing room and therefore did not want to risk Neymar becoming a “too strong” leader, in a negative sense, in the dressing room.
L’Equipe has previously stated that Neymar looks set to remain at PSG after all, and one explanation for that is that he has a good relationship with Luis Enrique. The two fought together in Barcelona.
