The French team announced on Monday (6th) that Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar will not play for the remainder of the current European Cup season as he requires surgery for ligament surgery in his ankle and will be out for at least three Months.
Neymar, who has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in the French championship this season, has not played since beating Lille (France) 4-3 last month after being withdrawn from Paris Saint-Germain’s last two games was excluded.
“Neymar Jr. has had bouts of instability in his right ankle in recent years,” PSG said in a statement.
“After his last sprain on February 20, the medical team recommended ligament surgery to avoid the high risk of re-injury. All the specialists consulted confirmed this necessity,” the club’s statement said. A period of three to four months can be expected before training can start again.”
Paris Saint-Germain said that Neymar will have surgery in Doha, Qatar.
The Parisians lead the French championship by eight points over runners-up Olympique de Marseille (French). Also, the Paris team will face Bayern Munich (Germany) in the Champions League round of 16 next Wednesday (8th) in a bid to try and reverse the Germans’ 1-0 defeat in the first leg.
