It was one of the biggest changes in the last transfer period: Neymar (31) leaves PSG and joins Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia. At a press conference, the Brazilian talks about his move, the criticism that came with it and an unfinished dream.

The 31-year-old believes the Saudi Pro League is of higher quality than the French Ligue 1 due to new arrivals in the summer transfer market: “Because of the names that have gone to the Saudi league… I don’t know if it’s better than the French one.”

The Brazilian is thus repeatedly criticizing the French league and his former club Paris Saint-Germain. Neymar recently reported that he and his friend Lionel Messi (36) “went through hell” at PSG.

Criticism of the Saudi move leaves Neymar cold

The emerging criticism of his move to Al-Hilal leaves the magician cold. Criticism arose after his move from FC Barcelona to PSG, as Neymar looks back: “Everyone said that when I went to the French championship, and that’s where I suffered the most.”

Especially with the large number of top players in Saudi Arabia, the 124-time Brazilian international believes in an exciting championship fight: “It won’t be easy to win the Saudi championship because there are other teams that have become stronger.”

However, Neymar is very happy with his choice of club: “It’s a new culture, but I’m happy with the decision I made and the future that lies ahead of me.”

Neymar dreams of winning the World Cup

In a competitive Saudi Pro League, the former Barça player wants to stay fit for an unfinished dream. Neymar definitely wants to win the World Cup with the national team: “Our long-awaited World Cup title has been postponed again. It is sad to lose a World Cup, there is no sadder defeat.”

After being eliminated from the 2022 World Cup, the offensive player thought about retiring from the national team, but in the end the dream and love for his country outweighed the disappointment: “I had doubts about whether I would come back, but after discussions with family and… Friends, you start to appreciate everything you’ve done.”
