Neymar refuses to give up the dream of raising the World Cup with Brazil…and cites Messi

Brazilian star Neymar has hinted that he may participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that lifting the trophy is still a “big dream” for him.

Neymar, 31, had stated during preparation for the 2022 World Cup that was held in Qatar that it might be the last edition for him, but he was shocked by his exit with the Brazilian national team from the quarter-finals by defeat against Croatia.

After Brazil’s exit from the World Cup, Neymar did not reveal a decisive position regarding his future in international play, as he was “psychologically destructive.”

About two months after the end of the World Cup, it seems that Neymar absorbed the disappointment and said that the door was not closed to the possibility of him continuing with the Brazilian national team until the 2026 World Cup.

“I will spend year after year and we will see. Of course I have a very big dream, which is to win the World Cup,” Neymar told TNT Sports.

Neymar added that he drew inspiration from the success of his Paris Saint-Germain colleague, Argentine star Lionel Messi, in winning the World Cup with his country.

Neymar said: “Lionel has always been an inspiration. He has always helped and encouraged me.”

Neymar will be thirty-four years old at the start of the 2026 World Cup in America, Mexico and Canada.

Neymar participated with the Brazilian national team in the 2014, 2018 and 2022 versions of the World Cup, and he was crowned with the bronze shoe and was chosen in the perfect squad in the 2014 World Cup.
