Neymar PSG Transfer Investigation: Former French National Assembly President Accused of Influence Trafficking

Neymar arrived at PSG in 2017, leaving in 2023, but the negotiations continue to generate discussion. After all, the French Court is investigating whether a former president of the National Assembly tried to obtain tax advantages in hiring the Brazilian for the french club.

According to the agency “AFP” and the newspaper “Libération”, Hugues Renson is accused of possible “influence trafficking”. A former deputy, Renson would have benefited from tickets to PSG games, in addition to other advantages between 2017 and 2022.

Former PSG communications director, Jean-Martial Ribes also appears in the investigations, accused of having links with Hugues Renson. The investigations, however, are at an early stage.

Neymar spent six seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, where he made 173 appearances, with 118 goals and 77 assists. The Brazilian arrived at the French team for 222 million euros (R$812 million at the time), figures that place him as the biggest transfer in the history of football.

Between ups and downs, in addition to many controversies on and off the field, the number 10 left the club in the middle of 2023. He transferred to Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, who paid 90 million euros (R$490 million at the price at the time). Neymar is currently injured and is only scheduled to return in August.
