Speculations are surfacing in Brazil that Neymar could soon be playing in his homeland again.
The 31-year-old left his regular club FC Santos in the summer of 2013 and has been playing in Europe ever since. After four years at FC Barcelona, the noble technician is now contesting his sixth season in the jersey of Paris St. Germain, which ended prematurely for him due to an operation on his ankle. Now Neymar confirms that he wants to play for his regular club again in the future: “One day I will come back. I’ll be back. It’s great to be back home. I feel at home here, I’m very happy to be back here after ten years.”
The superstar is already traveling back to Brazil and meeting his family and friends there. Neymar is also currently spending rehabilitation after his surgery at home. Most recently, he watched the 0-0 draw between FC Santos and Audax Italiano in the stadium: “I came here to support Santos and get the fans’ affection. It’s the club that gave me everything, that opened doors for me and my family, that revealed me to the world. I’m very happy and satisfied to be here.”
Neymar is under contract in Paris until 2025. However, an early return to Santos does not seem to be out of the question, even if the striker would have to accept a large drop in wages.
