Brazilian star Neymar, who joined Al-Hilal on Tuesday, saw that some described Portuguese veteran Cristiano Ronaldo as “crazy, but he opened the way for the stars” to the Saudi Football League.
After six varying years spent in Paris Saint-Germain, France, Neymar put an end to his Parisian adventure through his resounding move to Al-Hilal, to join a group of other stars in the Saudi League such as Ronaldo and Senegalese Sadio Mane (Al-Nasr), the French Karim Benzema and Ngolo Kante (Al-Ittihad) and the Algerian Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahly).
He also joined other stars in his new team, such as the Portuguese Robin Neves, the Serbian Sergey Milinkovic-Savic, the Senegalese Khalido Coulibaly and his compatriot Malcom.
In a video published by Al-Hilal, Neymar said, “My goal is to make Al-Hilal fans happy and always reach the summit, and I will do my best with the team.”
He added, “All the Brazilian people will watch the Saudi Professional League and support Al Hilal. I spoke with Malcom and (his other compatriots) Alex Telles and Michael Delgado before agreeing to Al Hilal’s offer.”
And after he was pushed towards leaving Saint-Germain, Neymar agreed to the golden offer from the oil-rich Gulf kingdom, where he will receive a huge salary in Al-Hilal, estimated, according to a source in Saudi Arabia, at “100 million euros (109 million dollars) per year for the player, and the same for Paris Saint-Germain.” Pointing out that the player was negotiating a two-year contract instead of three.
The Brazilian star stressed that he wanted to “write history with Al-Hilal and achieve titles… The blue color suits me,” adding, “I did not discuss life in Saudi Arabia with anyone, and I decided to come here.”
The former Barcelona star said, “The excitement will be great when you play against Cristiano Ronaldo, (Brazilian) Roberto Firmino and Karim Benzema. Some described Ronaldo as crazy after joining the Saudi League (early this year)…but he opened the way for the stars and things have evolved a lot.”
