Neymar left the pitch on a stretcher after receiving treatment for several minutes during the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Uruguay.
Brazilian striker Neymar left the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in tears on Tuesday after apparently suffering a serious knee injury.

The 31-year-old went down in the 44th minute after being tackled from behind by Nicolas de la Cruz, holding his left leg in pain and calling a doctor as his teammates watched in fear.

After several minutes of treatment, he left the field on a stretcher. Brazilian Football Federation sources said Neymar had suffered a severe left knee sprain and that he would undergo tests to determine whether there was any ligament damage.
Darwin Nunez scored in the 42nd minute while Nicolas de la Cruz scored a second in the 77th minute as Uruguay beat Brazil 2-0 in Montevideo.
Brazil’s medical team had no immediate information on Neymar’s condition.
Neymar, who plays for Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, was criticized by fans ahead of the World Cup qualifier for his subpar performance in the 1-1 draw between hosts Brazil and Venezuela on Thursday.
Neymar made his national team debut in 2010 and scored 79 goals in 128 appearances for Brazil.
