The Brazilian had to be substituted at the weekend because of an ankle injury. According to a report from France, the superstar will be out for up to a month.
According to a report in the French newspaper “Le Parisien”, Paris Saint-Germain expects Neymar to be out for three to four weeks. The 31-year-old Brazilian would “in all probability” miss the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 at German record champions FC Bayern Munich on March 8, the newspaper from the capital wrote on Monday.
However, the newspaper still referred to the investigation on Sunday. According to PSG, this resulted in a sprained right ankle in the offensive player. Further investigations should shed light on whether the ligaments have been affected and how long Neymar is actually out.
Get well wishes from Mbappé
The South American sustained the injury in Sunday’s 4-3 French championship win against OSC Lille in the Prinzenpark. Teammate Kylian Mbappé has already sent Neymar the best wishes for a recovery. “Stay strong. The team is waiting for you,” wrote the World Cup top scorer on Instagram.
Before the first leg, there was still a guesswork about the fitness of the ailing Mbappé. The striker eventually came on as a substitute in the second half but was unable to prevent the 1-0 defeat.
Neymar is always plagued by ankle problems. He was also injured in the first group match against Serbia at the World Cup and only returned to the team in the round of 16 against South Korea.
